Google TV coming in May

Google's rumoured Android telly expected to appear at the Google I/O conference in May.

Google's new Android-running TVs might be coming sooner rather than later, with the Wall Street Journal reporting that Google will likely unveil the new service later this month.

Google's Android TVs and set top boxes would allow viewers access to the internet, stream online video from sites such as YouTube, as well as run apps from the Android Marketplace.

Google is apparently developing its TV project with big-hitters Sony, Intel and Logitech, with the former developing TVs, Intel providing Atom chips (most commonly found in netbooks) for the set-top boxes, and Logitech designing peripherals like keyboards and remotes.

Some 3000 developers attend Google's annual I/O conference, where Google showcases its latest services and products and courts developers. This year's conference in San Fransisco takes place from the 19th - 21st of May.
